Cathy's Yoga

Cathy's instructor-led yoga My classes are designed to give you the experience of yoga with its advantages of increasing flexibility, strength and balance as well as offer up focus to your own needs. As a resident of Wellington on the Lake, I have a good understanding of the various challenges that people within the class may be experiencing. Yoga postures, meditation and breath work are taught with this in mind. These practices can help reduce high blood pressure, insomnia, anxiety and depression, manage pain, and much more.

Cathy's Training: The classes are founded on Hatha Yoga and highly influenced by my various trainings. I started teaching 16 years ago after completing my basic Yoga Teacher Training. Through the injuries and health challenges presented to me by my students, I found myself searching for more education. Over the years I have completed many certifications including a Professional Yoga Therapist Certification, Somatic Coach, Integrative Yoga Therapeutics, BoneFit coach, and many workshops focused on yoga and functional anatomy. My education is ongoing which means that what I present to you is always evolving and updating to the latest researched yoga practices.

The Yoga Classes are given throughout the year: winter, spring, summer and fall sessions. Fees do apply; cost per session is subject to the number of weeks per session. Space is limited. Signing up for a full session or a number of classes within a session ensures your space is reserved. Drop-in availability varies from week to week. Please do get in touch with me (email address here or 613-885-7707) to discuss which class is a good fit and I will do my best to find a space for you. Classes run as per this schedule .

GENTLE (LEVEL I): A gentle movement class that offers yoga postures with modifications, including fine tuning to individual physical abilities to help build strength and range of motion. In this class, chairs are used to support you through standing and balance poses as well as some of the seated poses. (Note: the capability of getting down onto and up off of the floor is required). See schedule.

BALANCE & CHALLENGE (LEVEL II): This is a more traditional yoga class. The class is tailored to suit your own ability through offering each pose with choices. You decide where your challenge lies by listening to your body and being mindful of its messages. Learn how to move in your pain free range of motion and, from there, build more fluidity and freedom in your movements.

Fall 2021 Yoga Classes will resume on October 5th. These classe will be held in the Community Centre providing COVID19 restrictions have been lifted. Plan B is to return to online live Zoom classes. A decision will be made by the end of August.
